Title: swapping a4.0l for a4.2l

I have a 1987 yj with a 4.2l and would like to install a 4.0l it is out of a1987 jeep cherokee? Any suggestions ? do I need a new computer the 4.0l was from an automatic , I would like to hook it up to my 5 speed.

you need a ecm and harness out of a 5 spd XJ to make it work properly

You will also need to install an 4.0L flywheel to trigger the CPS. Your old 4.2L may or may not have the notches on it for the CPS. The 4.0L will bolt up to your 5spd but you'll need to see if your 5psd has the window cut into the bellhousing for the CPS.
