Got a fair bit of the cage tacked together and found out the fuel cell is the wrong size do to a mess up on genrights site. Now to get the two race seats to fit in I will have to sink the cell into the floor or get a different cell.

Bst2500 genright race legal cell

Post by: frenchy on January 16, 2012, 09:15:02 PM
You have to get the fuel cell so it's not hanging out the back  ;D
Like where the front seat is.
Then the passenger seat can go right at the back for easy ejection!

On a more serious note, are you missing the harness bar or didn't order it?
Where you going to mount the shoulder harness too?

So more of the cage done and started on the seat position. As for the fuel cell problems I have a plan. But more on that later.
New sound system mounted in the cage
(http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k191/LEMONAIDJAY/IMG-20120117-00139.jpg)
Seats
(http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k191/LEMONAIDJAY/IMG-20120117-00147.jpg)
New tire carrier
(http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k191/LEMONAIDJAY/IMG-20120117-00142.jpg)
Now for problem number 2
(http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k191/LEMONAIDJAY/IMG-20120117-00144.jpg)
So with the boggers the tire wants to sit about an inch inside the tailgate. More on this later.

When this custom tailgate is done it will work with the factory hard top.

If anyone can even lift it back up!  ;)

Your welder is quite good, does he have a B and stainless ticket? I could use him!  ;D
But, he is good. Take note folks, thats what carbon steel tig is supposed to look like. Just enough heat to make a puddle, melt in the filler rod, and get good fusion. Very little colour distortion to indicate a large heat affected zone. That's where the failures happen.
Hats off Jay, you've got yourself a *very* competent tig operator.

Starting to install the front coilovers. The Rock Krawler kit calls for 12" coilovers in the front but we went with 14" in the front and 16" in the rear instead of the coil springs the kit calls for .

Started to install the genright rear swaybar.

This will be the rears full drop and full stuff

Still needs a bit of trimming for the full stuff to work.

Have you figured the uptravel yet? With the stock back frame and the windsheild at 77 inch, uptravel might get really tight. Also, when you cycle the suspension, the 16's might give you a lot of trouble with that stock frame.

Might want to just go ahead and back half that frame to save some real headaches. Otherwise, you will likely lose about half of the travel from those 16's.

All and all, looking great. Just a few tips on stuff to watch out for. Have fun Jay.

Is there more to that front coilover tower? Maybe tiny iPhone screen but only 2 2" welds hold them on?

Edit* Now that Im at home I can see its just tacked.... keep up the good work!

No room for back halfing the frame I have a need of the space under the tub  lol as for up travel I am working on 5-5.5 " I have a way to work with the stock frame and still have full use of the 16" coilovers. Wish me luck

Then it started over since the recent Chanda yard sale?  ;D

Engines, transmission, tcase, bumpers gone. I noticed some changes in steering. Cage changes too? What else?

Cool rig, I noticed the brake line clamps. Someone stole that idea from gm, that's how the factory did it back in the sixties.

As with any new, highly customized build you must have some bugs to work out?
How's that coming along?
