The Calgary Jeep Association is pleased to announce our annual Off-Road 101 Course
This is a one day, family friendly course that is open to anyone that will introduce participants to the basic skills that are necessary during an Off-Road adventure, as well as safe and environmentally friendly practices while on the trail.
Rough outline of the day:
The course will take place at the Mclean Creek off highway land use area. We will be meeting at the Mclean Creek store from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. At 9am we'll start with introduction to off roading instruction, along with various beginner obstacles to get you acquainted with your jeeps capabilities. Around noon we'll have a short lunch break (you’re responsible to bring your own lunch as well as addition food and drinks the rest of the day). Then we'll head out for a trail ride with CJA members providing instruction and support throughout the way. Please note that this is an offroading activity and there is always the possibility that damage and scratches can occur to any vehicle. The trail guides will do their best to prevent / minimize any potential damage to the vehicles, but the potential is always there.
The number of registrants will be limited to 15

We will try. Might not be until Aug or Sept

I wanted to get in on this for this month but now I have whiplash so... I won't be able to make the may training class.

Had a great time kicking up my back wheels and doing wheelies today at McLean. Definitely learned a lot both in terms of off-roading as well as my vehicles current capabilities.
Big thanks to Kevin, Eric and Vince for taking the time to show us the ropes!
If anyone has pics of my Cherokee, let me know!

Not sure what it is about getting out and romping around in the back 40; but I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face.
I've got a couple and a video of your trailhawk getting an "assist". I'll post them up as soon as I figure out how. ????
Great meeting you all today and will see ya in September!

What a great day. Big thanks to Kevin, Eric, & Vince for giving up a beauty of a day to help out some newbies. I had no idea a stock JK could do what we did.
If you guys want to pm me your email address I have pics and videos of both of you. Probably be the easiest way.
Thx
Ken

Should have a PM coming from me, as well. At least it says it sent.

Nice video. Likes like a 2' lift and new tires and I'll be set. Got both your emails and will send what I have soon.
-
2" may not be enough with your JKU.
A 2" on a JK is like putting a 3-4" on a JKU?
Here's a question for all...
Some of the trails we were on during our orientation were pretty much one-way traffic only.
If you encounter an oncoming vehicle say on a hill, who has the right away if you can't get off to the side enough to allow them to pass?

2.5" metalcloak lift with track bar relocation brackets, brake lines, and 33's is all you need. its what I ran on my JKUR. and get the rancho exhaust kit, Dave at broken axle knows which one I'm talking about, it much better than getting spacers. with high clearance fenders you can run 35s on that lift.

The jeep traveling uphill has right of way. But, every situation will be different. Sometimes it's easier for the uphill driver to pull over then the downhill driver.
