Title: NEED - Rig Access Mats
Post by: AstraX on June 16, 2016, 01:58:20 AM
Hey Everyone,

As part of the back country trail rehab program we need to get our hands on about 28 rig access mats.  They will be purchased by the various clubs so we can keep a section of the winter trails loops open for us.  If you know of anywhere that sells used for cheaper than the $500 I have been quoted for new ones we would be very interested.

We will also need to figure out a way to transport them to site.  If you have any ideas let me know.

Thanks!

Be careful acquiring used matting unless you look at it first - if it's been used to provide access for tracked vehicles, some of it may be chewed up pretty badly, which may result in some flat tires when folks get close to the edges.

On the plus side, this is a good time to be shopping for any sort of purchase from the oilfield....not a lot of drilling rigs running right now.

I'm open to anything that will save us money.  We just need to have it approved by the back country guys.

Those mats are $950 each.  Neat option but a bit expensive.

You guys have a way to transport them? We probably have some good ones sitting in out yard in Fort Mac, not sure what they'd sell them for though.

Transport would likely be a hired trucking company.  Might be a bit expensive coming from Fort Mac.

A lot of trucks are empty on the back haul out of Fort Mac.
There should be wiggle room to at least cover fule cost
