Noticing a faint smell of coolant when my sons TJ is running.
Both inside and out. Rad levels of coolant have dropped as well over time but I can't say how much.
I assume it was full when I bought it last fall and a few weeks back I had to add about 1-2 litres to the rad to top up the level to the rad cap.
No visible leaks anywhere, no pooling etc...
Just wondering where are the common sources of leaks for a 2005 TJ 4.0 L 6 Cylinder.
Thanks.

Check the heater core if there’s no visible leaks outside

I concur with Vince...

If no visible leaks are found either get it pressure tested and/or get a head gasket leak detector. Basically tests the coolant for exhaust.

No coolant in the oil as per the last oil change a few months ago...
Seems to be more from the engine bay than the interior...
Might run it up to temp tonight and take a flashlight in the dark to see if I can see anything.

Do you see any white smoke on startup or while running from the exhaust?
-
No smoke in exhaust on start-up.

Visual look for leaks, if none found pressure test it.

Found a little on the bottom tray / support of the radiator.
Tried a bottle of stop-leak for the rad but didn't work.
Where a good place to get a new rad ??
