Title: Pinion seal, yoke holder
Post by: GoChris on March 25, 2019, 03:23:34 PM
I am trying to replace my front pinion seal, but can't get the nut off. Does anyone have a yoke holder I could borrow so I can hopefully remove the nut?

Put the front wheels on the ground, ebrake on and in 4 low.

Are you sure you need to replace the seal?, last Summer my rear pinion started leaking badly and it turned out to be a plugged axle vent line, cleared the gunk off the end and it hasn’t leaked since

I'll check the vent line, and I had the wheels on the ground and someone standing on the brakes, no go.

You could always stick a couple of big screwdrivers or prybars through the axle u-joints

Do you have to worry about breaking something if you apply too much force while doing this?
