When I was young and foolish and my XJ was still stock('89 4.0, 5spd), I topped it out at 180km/h.

I'd rather not admit to how fast I've had either jep but the tj goes faster than you'd think it would/should.

I got my 1948 CJ2A up to 112km/hr. Remember when Scotty is telling the Captain that if he pushes her any farther she'll rip herself apart?

I am sure I could get my Tj past 200km....... I just don't want to have to pay for the reapirs after I drop it out of a plane.
This got me to thinking. What is the terminal velocity of a jeep? I read this on wikipedia, it says a parachuter can hit 195 kph and could hit 320. Could a jeep hit 200? Who wants to donate their jeep for a test http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_velocityBut this math is beyond me, maybe someone smarter than me could figure it out

When a Grand drives like a car, I don't think it counts against most sterotypical 2 door jeeps.

using this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_velocityand yes... i'm bored at work lol this is what i get ... if i did it right ... seems kinda fast *************************************************************** Vt = terminal velocity, m = mass of the falling object, = 1978kg (TJ with I6 and hardtop) g = acceleration due to gravity, = 9.81m/s² Cd = drag coefficient, = .55 p = density of the fluid through which the object is falling, and = 1.2 kg/m³ (at sea level) A = projected area of the object. = 2.963m² 1.750m (height) * 1.693m (width) = 2.963m² Plug all those in and you end up with 141.19m/s 141.19m/s is equal to 508.28 k/h So 508.28 k/h is the terminal velocity of a TJ falling nose down at sea level

Hmmm... my '04 Rubi computer cut the engine at 140-145KPH.... on a big, steep downhill on a straight stretch of secondary highway. It didn't seem to be related to engine speed, I've had it at higher RPM's when accelerating through the gears.
Now when *I* was younger, I got clocked by RCMP from the other side of the highway doing 135MPH or 217 KPH in my '72 Cuda, straightish stretch, empty on my side. Oddly enough, that matched the speedo. Hmm... now that I think of it, the angle would have reduced the clocked speed, so perhaps 220 KPH. No ticket, was on the way to an ambulance call, but he *did* come to look under the hood when I got back to the garage. Nothing special.. factory 340 4 speed with 3.23 rear end and a Holley carb.
