Rad Leaks
« on: December 05, 2005, 09:32:33 AM »
I have a leak on the passenger side of my 99XJ. It does not leak all the time though. I had the rad presure tested and there was nothing wrong with it. I've notice it when it was -15/-20 out side when it was warming up (iddleling). It leaks out maybe a cup of fluid then it stops. I'm puzzled...why would it leak if it pressure tested ok?

I don't want to dump sealant stuff in my rad if I don't have to...

I have a buddy who has a 99XJ as well that did the same thing. He does have 3X the milage I have on mine though...

PLEASE HELP... 8) and thx in advance!

Hey Dom....check the line from the rad cap to the overflow tank.  If it's cracked or pinched or damaged that might be a logical source for only a cup or so of coolant  .

Thanks Rob... I didn't see any cracked of pinched in my over flow line. OKOK... I looked quickly due to the outside weather.

I will go to Rich sometime this week to finish the flairs. I'll have a closer look then.

It didn't leak again today and I let it warmed up for a good 10-15 min.... HUMMM?
