June 13th 101 Course
« on: June 07, 2010, 11:04:05 AM »
Hey everyone, I will be attending the CJA Off-Road 101 course on the 13th. I have never been to Maclean Creek, and I was wondering if anyone who is going that day has, maybe we could meet up somewhere before hand and I could follow you?
Would really save me the pain of getting lost.   :D
Thank you!

-Fernando

Why does your Jeep say Toyota on it?
The obstacle is the path.

I'm also in the same boat, if someone knows where they're going and wants to convoy.

I'm in the NW of Calgary, so I'm planning on leaving west on highway 1, taking 22 south to Brag Creek, and then 22x over to MacLean Creek.

I'm guessing we should show up a little early and gas up (is there a station there?  or on the way?) so we're ready for the day with a full tank?
Edit:  Looks like the camp store doesn't have gas, so filling up in Brag Creek is the best bet?

Edit:  Wow...I didn't realize it would be an hour trip to get out there (according to google maps....I should probably add another 10 minutes since I've never been there before), guess I'll be making a Timmies run before I leave.

Last gas stop will be Bragg Creek.  It's about a 35 minute drive from Glenmore and Hwy 8.  There are signs saying McLean Creek as you approach the turn off.  If you hit Paddy Flats / Elbow Falls, you've gone to far...

Jeeptastic is leading the way out from the north west.  I know because I'm following him ;D
I'm sure once we figure out a meeting place all are welcome to convoy.

Excellent, thanks guys!

Waytec for the map so I could figure out the drive time, specialk for the gas station / Elbow falls info...I've been there once, and SilverTJ, I'd love to join your Convoy with Jeeptastic, if you guys will have me.

I'm still not totally sure if my tires are acceptable, I'll take good pictures of them tonight w/ a wear indicator or bill or quarter or something when I pick up the Jeep, to confirm that they'll be okay for the course.  If not I'll run around like a chicken with my head chopped off trying to find good ones in time for the weekend!

Actually, that is a really frickin' brilliant idea.... I am having a hard time believing that Al thought of it.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.

I'll be headed out there from the NW too ...     if anyone wants to follow me  i'll be at this Tim Horton's  ( just off of 16th ave close to crowchild crowchild)
I'll be heading out of Tim's at 7:30  ...   then stopping in Bragg creek to top off on gas... and off to the mclean creek store.   I'll be in a red tj rubicon with black flat fenders and no back windows (maybe no doors too)       I'll do this on saturday and on sunday.

map to the Tim's i'm talking about

If anyone wants to leave from a little further out we are meeting at the Valley Ridge turn off on 16th (just past Stoney Trail) at 7:00 - 7:15.  Same as above, if required, a gas stop in Bragg Creek.  Green Jeep with tan top and silver Jeep with no top.
See ya out there.

See you all in the AM.  looks like a great day for it.  ;D

If you have a CB and see one of the club jeeps on the road most often you can reach us on CH 10.

Cheers

If anyone is in the SW, there will be 3 of us meeting at the Tim Hortons in Signal hill center.... None of us really know where were going :D but we all live down south as it is! ... Anyone else want to meet up down here, just say so, and we can work out a time! :)

I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Ooohhh, I haven't really had a chance to use my CB properly yet.  I'll turn it on to see if I can pick up anything.
