Howdy folks! Long time, no talk. The AURS Board of Directors has been very busy since our January 12th general meeting. We will be taking further steps to help keep our members more update in the future. One of these steps is the creation of an entirely new website, which we hope to have up soon. These are some of the things we have been up to:
January 31st, 2006
The news of the new Recreation Corridors Coordinating Committee was released.
February 2, 2006
The AURS sent a letter to the Chairman of the Board, Ray Danyluk, following a phone conversation with the president of the AURS. We received a written reply on March 20th.
February 28, 2006
The Alberta Four Wheel Drive Association has officially been revived. The AURS has played a key part in the revival process.
March 8th, 2006
The President attended a meeting at the MD of Ranchlands office at Chain Lakes Provincial Park. Attending were representatives from the MDs of Ranchlands, Willow Creek, and Pincher Creek, as well as several representatives from Alberta Sustainable Resources and Development. Also attending was Cal Rakash from the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association. The meeting was held to discuss the large increase of users in the area and the problems that arose last May long from the increase.
March 9th, 2006
The President and Vice President attended a very brief meeting with the Deputy Minister of ASRD, Brad Pickering, as well as other members of ASRD to discuss concerns with the as yet to be released Ghost/Waiprous Access Management Plan.
March 24th – 25th, 2006
The President attended the fourth annual Stewards in Motion seminar in High River.
April 12th , 2006
The President will be attending another meeting at the MD of Ranchlands office in the Chain Lakes park, along with several representatives from different motorized organizations including the A4WDA.
April 13th, 2006
We would like to invite everyone to attend the next general meeting to hear all of the latest news and info about these and other events. The format for the meeting is to present all of the latest news and info in an information-only session at the beginning of the meeting. This will take about 1½ - 2 h and will include guest speakers followed by a question and answer session. After a ½ h recess, all members in good standing are invited to stay for a 1 h internal workings meeting. At this time, past minutes, correspondence, old business, and new business will be dealt with.
As you can see, the Board of Directors has been very busy. With only three executive members, all of whom work full-time, it has been difficult at times to keep up with things.
We look forward to seeing many of you there.
