if you have that engine out and on a stand it might save you some time and effort down the road by changing the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket. maybe even a thermostat and gasket just to make sure. its so much easier on a stand. also have those parts off would give you a good look inside and make sure everything looks proper.

And those are definately the wisest words ever spoken by a ticketed mechanic, that has owned a 4.0l or 5 :D

I only wish i did my rear main when I had the chance... instead its only a constant reminder that I have oil in the pan, without having to check the dipstick...

Lookin good Loren!!!
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

So, engine's painted and it's now bolted into the engine bay (which is also now painted)...

The body work has been started; the passenger side floorpan has been fixed and we've started cutting stuff out for the rockers. We've already cut out a peice of square tube to start building that.

And the front tires are on, because then we can get an idea of where the fender will be built, but mainly it was just an excuse to put them on...

...And they look awesome.

Plenty of other stuff has been started, I'll post again when the the next big thing happens.

So the last post was over a year ago!   We had some issues with getting motor up and running but those are resolved.  The "Budget" part of this build has been thrown out.  Swapped all the axles to Dom's out his XJ.   That meant a bit more fabbing and shortening of the rear driveshaft.  It can not move in and out of the garage under it's own power.

A bunch of electrical has been sorted out, but there is still a few more wires here and there.  Interior is coming along...  had to relocate the seat for a tall driver.   ALL the rust has been cut away and fixed on the cab.

Body work on the cab is just about done now.  Light sanding is all it needs and the color can go on.   Should be putting together a paint booth this weekend.

The fenders flares are all going to be removable using Metal Cloak parts.    Front bumper is being fabbed up now.   Sliders and rails are on. Hope to have it out for the 101...   but FOR SURE in July for some wheeling and then to the SnS.   We will get some pics up shortly.

I like the color choice! I'm looking foraward to seeing this rig on the trail this summer!
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(
