Brakes are spensive!

I swear these rotors were $30 each in Texas, and cheapest I found them here was $80/each..  >:(

When I cut in the gauges, I knew I was going to need to modify the defroster duct to clear the top gauges.

You can see it in this photo

Started with this:

After some plastic welding with a torch and soldering iron, and a factory Chevy intake plenum,

Shifters..

 NWF tripple stick going in.

The Dana 300 side isnt bad.

Working on building a shifter for the doubler box.  They just send a generic bracket and rod end with the kit..

List is shorter..  It doesnt seem as long if you know I started with nothing and built every part by hand...  Over 6 years...

Electrical general -
- I would say other than the dozen or so loose wires in the harness that are unused and need to be trimmed, the wiring is done.
- I need to wire up the check engine light, but that's not critical.  I can read through scanner
- It will engage starter now, but I haven't powered up ECM
- Im sure there will be a ton of trouble shooting and grounding issues.

Brakes -
- need to fill with fluid and bleed

Cooling / Heating-
- Need to fill with fluid and bleed

Fuel
- Need to fill and pressure test

Steering -
- need to fill with fluid and bleed

Chassis -
- Need to buy/install shocks
- Set and weld pinion angle. (One of last things after all weight is in)
- Clean up and paint axles.
- Mount winch and front bumper
- Build/buy driveshafts
- Once over on axles
- Install Locker in front D60 (not critical)

Instrumentation:
- Install Speedometer after running.

Engine
- Once over Drain Fill
- Pull plugs and lube cylinders
- Pull injectors and soak in seafoam

Exhaust
- Ill take to a shop

Transmission
- Drain, fill

Transfer Case (s)
- Drain, fill
- Install new gears (Not critical)

Wheels/Tires
- Weld up wheels
- Buy/source tires

Body
- Final paint once everything else is done.
- Mount shifters (In progress)

Its not that big. Be alot better on 42"s.

Going to hit up Consolidated and blast my H'1s.  I tried to use my pot blaster and the military paint is brutal.

Ill be making a trip South before October for tires.  (My first son is due in October, so the clock is ticking)

Trac bar.  Fun story, I designed it in Bendtech as a full triangle.  Then I realized I left my last full joint of HREW in Texas.  So I used a continuous piece of what 1.75 I had on hand and a piece of 1.5" x .25 wall  and sleeved in past the junction of the radius arm.  In other words the top bar is almost solid, up past where the bottom bar intersects. Side plates are 3/8" plate. The Heim matches the one on my tie rod. (When I ordered for my steering they sent an extra by mistake)

Its not welded to the axle yet.  Im waiting to set the pinion angle once all the weight is in, and driveshafts are figured out.

Always loved scramblers, that thing is awesome!! Good work, I wish I could weld like that.  I can kind of chicken crap stuff together, but I wouldn't even build a bumper, let alone steering/suspension components!!! I can't wait to see this thing work, I'll probably never get to run with it since I'll probably not get over 35s, but I'd love to see it moving!!

Im sure your welds are fine.

I am not a welder, but more of a grinder anyway.

It is a little out of place on this board, but this style of rig is more common where I am from.  (Low - leaf spring - big tires)  I have built a few rigs in the past, but this project is by far the longest time, and oldest rig.  It is tough when you don't start with much.  Next will be linked tube buggy.  No messing around with old rotted metal.
