http://www.environment.alberta.ca/apps/basins/DisplayData.aspx?Type=Figure&BasinID=14&DataType=4&StationID=GARD

This location is about 6 or 7 miles south of there.
So right now there could anywhere from 200 mm of ice, up to 2 metres of snow up there before the storm.
Some years on the july long weekend you can drive up there, some years snow is to deep. There are lots of trails you can access in the valleys.

You will be best to stay north of Highway 3 to avoid groomed snowmobile trails in Castle.

If you can locate the Atlas or McGilvary Staging areas there are some trails that may be low enough that you might be able to make it a couple of klicks - that said if the snow is anything like here you'll have fun just getting to the staging areas.

Would love to go to the plane, that's cool.
A weekend trip down to this area would be a great idea for a getaway. I happen to be in tourism and would be happy to do the planning for a trip to new trails  ;D

I am inviting all to join us at Charlie creek for a nice run this Thursday 09/18. We will be leaving Gwinnett at 830 am or you can meet us at McDonald's in Clayton Co.
