Great work guys!! I was out there today and saw the fence and all the cars that had been pulled out. What is the plan with the abandoned cars, who has taken them out of Mclean in the past?

if there is no plans for the abandand cars why not see if the fire department will take them for extracation practice. i know Canmore gives tax recepts for them.

At the beginning of the year, a group of us pulled out 3 vehicles & were able to load them all onto the back of an endump that was donated to us by Federal Metals.  It's hard to get these resources and unfortunately we weren't able to have any of those resources to load them up and take any of the vehicles to the scrap yard this time so we were forced to leave them there.

I heard the SRD wants us to do it... but that makes sense, seeing as we do it all out of our own pocket & they don't have to cover any costs  :x   They made a big deal a while back saying that we weren't allowed to pull any vehicles out of the bush because it might be a "crime scene".  RCMP were supposed to go in, have a look and then pass it over to parks where they were to get rid of them.  Months & months passed with nothing being done so we just ended up pulling them out ourselves.  It's an eyesore... and it reflects badly upon us when they are sitting there in plain view.

Anyhow, I'm sure if we had the space we would have taken them back to the scrap yard (on our dime), but we didn't.  I think Parks should be in charge of getting rid of them this time... they know they are there, so hopefully they do something about it.

Hell, if no one wants that green Cherokee, I'll take it!!   8)

just a quick question... do you not need proof of registration or authorization from the Rcmp( in writting ) to dispose of abandoned vehicles????

It needs to be in writing

You need a letter from SRD once they have received clearance  from the RMCP to dispose of the vehicle. It needs to be in writing indicating the vin #.

That was freakin wicked!!!  That is part of the reason I moved back home. They are just not caring enough to put anythought into this, in alberta. If it is not oil ,,..... it doesn't make money for the gov.  simple as that.
