you can run 54" boggers completely stock. oh and the engine is good for 964,000 kms on a single oil change. the 86's have a 208:1 crawl ratio.

You can put 35" tires if you cut the crap out of your fenders and put longer bump stops also Doug. ...

What kind of gearing you have? If it's stock ,,... stay with your 31" tire!....

You'lll probably have 3.07 or 3.55 (if it's and auto trans.)... you'll loose too much power if you go with bigger tires. ....

You can cut your CAT out to get more power  .... put in a 2.5" pipe and a high flow muffler... that will cost you $$ though....

I hope that helped

A set of good 31” inch tires and tire chains will work well for you for the winter and give you a good opportunity to get to know the vehicle. If it is geared with 3:07 then 31” tires are good.  33” tires and 3:07 gears will work but it’s not an ideal setup you loose out on power for climbing and you come down hills faster than you want to.

Congratulations on your first JEEP Doug. Hope we see you at a meeting soon.

You most likely have 3:73's in it. It is a 2.8l V6 motor. Not a great setup but it's better than a 1.6...

Here is everything you need to know.

It's about time you got a jeep.

But getting a lemon colored station wagon may have been a mistake :P  Just put on some 31''  boggers and go have some fun.
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

First question that needs to be answered - did you actually buy it, or are you still just looking at it?
`48 CJ2A, `54 CJ3B, `97 TJ, and 03 WJ...batting close to .500 when it comes to jeep models owned vs. jeep models created.....

Hey Doug, good choice!  Welcome to the Jeep side

From the pics, it looks like you could probably stick some 33's under there with some fender trimming and offset rims.  You can get a cheap set of steelies with 3.75" backspacing and they should work good for ya.  :)  At this point if the price is right & what you plan on using it for, it should be perfect for you.

With my TJ I had my 3.5" RE Lift, 33's and only 3.07 gears in it the whole time I drove it.  Aside from going a bit fast down steep hills, it wasn't all that bad so anything is possible  :D   Of course it is going to be MUCH better now that I have 5.13's but whatever, I had a lot of fun in that TJ.

Good luck!  I can't wait to see it!
