Title: BDS Lifts
Post by: Z on September 04, 2008, 07:43:44 PM
Does anyone have any opinions on lifts by BDS?

Looks like I can get them from North Shore for a decent price. Going to go with the 3", and gas shocks.

My preference was OME, but I will have to get track bars seperately, and  after shipping, UPS brokerage, etc, etc, it will be ~$300 more.

if OME is considered to be closer to the top of the heap, then BDS would be closer to the bottom. just my opinion. but i would spend 1000$ more for an OME kit over a cheap-o kit.
this suspesnion kit will change the way your jeep rides, handles, and over all performs. do you want to cheap out and end up with a jeep that rides like crap? ive seen people that went with cheaper lifts and were so un-happy after they wanted to sell their trucks.
i have not personally driven a JK with a BDS lift on it. but i know 100% for sure that OME did all the homework needed to put together the perfect suspension upgrade for your JK. whereas BDS probably just used whatever fit.
anyways, my opinion.

We run a 3" BDS in the TJ...design was mediocre, and it was MORE than the RE 3.5.  Problem is Wil (NSOR) had the BDS on the shelf, and RE was 4-6 weeks delivery.  I had 10 days before our wedding, we were doing the Whipsaw in BC for our Honeymoon, and the lift was a pre-wedding gift from me to wifey (I know, Awwww).
The coils are comfortable....and flex ok.  It was everything else that I wasn't happy with.
I would NOT buy BDS again.

Thanks guys, this is super helpful... I'll  hold out for OME, I have heard no real complaints about them.
