This is a scheduled CJA run out to McLean.
Minimum vehicle requirements for this run are:
- 31" tires or bigger (no bald tires)
- must have front and back tow points
- jeep sized vehicle ... no full size trucks
Stuff to have in jeep :
- extra clothes
- tow strap
- tree saver
- extra food
- water
- first aid kit
- some tools
- licence and registration ::)
Where we're going:
McLean Creek meeting at the store at 9:30 ... hitting the trails at 10
What trails we do will depend on who shows up and vehicle capabilities
Bring your own lunch
Haven't had one of these runs in a while ... should be lots of fun ;D
CJA club rules aply
Non CJA members and passengers will have to sign a release form (insurance purposes)
-
I should be there .... ;D
Thanks Eric
-
sounds like fun, i'll come.
1 vote for top of the world, i still haven't seen it.
-
I should be in...
this will be the second of many CJA runs for me!! (hint hint....)
-
im there.. and dom can you bring the stickies
-
i wont make it, wifes pregnant and due tomarrow actually! im interested in becoming a CJA member however! Just waiting to get my jeep from barmanjay
-
Can't make it out yet. Still waiting on the "unreasonable" upgrades to make it here. Tires should be in by late next week, but other stuff won't be in until Bill makes his Thanksgiving run. Then just waiting on the lift kit from Rough Country; should be a week or two. Tube fenders by end of October, but those aren't required to take it out on the new shoes.
But THEN I'm up for some wheelin!
-
been a while since i've been on a trail run. i'd love to test out the new YJ. however, lift is not in for a few weeks. should have my Iroks tomorrow though, not 100% sure if they'll fit with the current lift on there (procomp 4" and 2"bl) so i'll mock it all up this weekend and see if i can tweek the suspension to get some flex out of it........ besides, ineed to try the air lockers :D
-
This is a definite possibility... :)
-
hey eric, if you're leading this the nmaybe a trail run similar to the one we did a couple weekends ago at mclean. we did top-o-the world. then headed out to do fisher west i believe. some of us ran out of time. i would like to do that long rocky climb. ive come down that trail but not the other direction looked good, but me and few others ran out of time. anyways, me 2 cents.

There's only about a 20% chance that I'll be in town, but that sounds like a great fall run to me.
-
yeah .. that run would be fun to do again ... a good mix of everything ... and bypasses at most of the harder places everyone should be able to make it up there ( with a bit of help maybe) ;D
-
count me in on sat
-
ok i have to ask
Non CJA members and passengers will have to sign a release form (insurance purposes)
what insurane puposes your wheeling your own vehicle with your own insurance, on crown land. why do you have to sign a release form??? your not liable for any damage etc. so what insurance are you guys talking about????? just wondering.
-
to my understanding the release form are needed to make sure the CJA has no liability for and damage or injury that may occur to anyone participating in a club run... just the way it is these days never know who's going to be out to sue you :o

Common sense would dictate that you are right. Any sane adult would understand that they take responsiblity for their own actions, and if they choose to go off-roading on crown land, they are responsible for any misfortunes that occur. The problem is that common sense is no longer very common.
In an era of "it's not my fault", it's a good idea to do a bit of "CYA" from time to time. If someone does something foolish on a club run, rolls their brand new JK, and then sues the CJA, the fact that the plaintiff doesn't really have a case won't prevent tens of thousands in legal bills. A waiver signed before the outing has a way of shutting down frivlous lawsuits of that type.
-
Looks like I'm in!
-
Love to go...but im helping some one move :P have fun :D
-
ahhh .. i hear the crack of a WHIP .... ;D

Maybe one of the admins should add a clause in the registration process for the new peeps into the forums about how CJA is not responsible for the new registrants conduct on the trails, etc, etc, etc,...
plus send out a mass email to all existing members about the change of rules, terms and the "new" disclaimer
We all had to accept the "terms" and "rules" of the forum before being registered.
-
This forum is not the CJA and the club is not the forum.
That is... participation on this forum does not make you a CJA member and being a CJA member doesn't necessarily mean someone participates on this forum. The forum is certainly one of the most widely used methods of communication between club members but I don't think we could tie someone's acceptance of forum rules to acceptance of risk on the trail.

there is no new change of rules same old it has always been like this
Just cus a person is registered on the fourm does not make them a CJA member.
-
It was just a thought.
..... The forum is certainly one of the most widely used methods of communication between club members.......
It is about the only way most club members contact each other in this day and age
......I don't think we could tie someone's acceptance of forum rules to acceptance of risk on the trail.
I'm not trying to cause trouble,.. but you can add a disclaimer stating that anything posted on this forum has nothing to do with the CJA club, regarding trail information and etc., and CJA is not responsible for the conduct of forum registrants on off-highway trails, also reminding that everyone is responsible for their own well being.
essentially what you said: This forum is not the CJA and the club is not the forum.... participation on this forum does not make you a CJA member ....
But added to the forum rules/terms
But those are just my thoughts
what happens if someone that happens to be on the trails (not saying I'm going to do this) decides to tail-end you guys? Are you going to make them sign a waiver too?
I've had guys in quads follow me just out of the blue - does that make me responsible for their well being and conduct?
but anyhoo,.. hope you guys have a good time,.. weather should be nice out,.. not warm,.. but nice
-
The company that we have our insurance through requires us to have waivers signed for ALL Official CJA events, that is why the waivers are required. Based on this, they probably would not accept us putting a disclaimer in the website sign up based on the reasons Fug stated.
The insurance is to cover the club for liability if something goes wrong. The people on the trail might not sue after an incident but that does not stopped a family member
Now back on topic and lets go wheeling ;D ;D
-
I can't take it on this one either, but I'm hoping to get out with you guys in the next year or so....hopefully I'll have a new rig to tell you about later this week. :)
One question though: What happened to the CB Radio requirement? No longer required, but a tree saver is for each participant? Did this get missed by chance, or changed, as I haven't really been in the loop.
-
it's up to the trail leader of each run to decide what is needed for each run ... depending on the run difficulty and leader preference ... a tree saver is a recommended thing to have ( everyone should have basic recovery gear when going out wheeling) ... a CB should be be listed in the recommended stuff to have for this run .. but isn't required ... Lets try not making this so complicated and lets go wheeling !!! anyone who has a question about this run and is planing on going go ahead and post. Anyone with general questions about trail runs please post in a different thread. Just to make it easier to keep track of how many people to expect on the run.
Thanks
Eric
-
Havn't been out since I rolled the Jeep...thinking maybe its time to squeeze a run in with the rubber down before the snow comes....fingers crossed...should be there.
-
It looks like their is going to be a good group of us.
-
My intention remains to be there if a relative rookie can accommodate the route. I have much to learn. 2005 TJ, 2" BB with Trxus MT's on black steelies, straps, hooks, Midland CB, George Strait CD's and the best floor mats on earth.
Was there not a link here to McLean maps? I was once able to negotiate where this store was and now I can't even find that. Do I have to lay off rye at home in the evenings?
Also, do people hook up for breakfast anywhere prior? Bragg Creek? Calgary?
Thanks,
Duane

So I just found out that this isn't the antenna bracket that I ordered. So I won't be installing the CB this weekend. But thanks for the offer to help.
I'll just see you guys tomorrow then, CB less.
I'll still be at the chinook theater at 8, if anyone wants to follow me to mclean creek.
