Title: More 4x4 bridge steel
Post by: DIAMOND DAVE on October 15, 2008, 10:25:15 AM
Enough material for up to (10) 4x4 bridges have been purchased and needs to be relocated to the SRD yard here in Calgary. Also there is a number of concrete culverts and blocks that needs to be hauled out to the McLean Creek zone for future trail improvement projects. Volunteers are required for the loading and unloading of block and culverts. If anyone has a dump trailer, large flat deck or dump truck that is willing to haul material, fuel costs will be covered. Also helpers are required to aid in unloading of I-beams in the SRD yard here in Calgary.
Dates from Oct 15 – Oct 30, 2008 Ongoing.

Dave found a great score on getting this material for future projects at an incredibly low cost. However, the material needs to be moved ASAP. He is working on moving some of the material this Sunday and needs help.  Volenters please meet him Sunday 8am at the Tim’s on 52nd street in the Foothills industrial area. From there he will head to the site where the steel is located. As for Vehicles is he needs trailers and trucks that can pull them: Car haulers, dumps and 5th wheels that are long. Also needed bodies to load/unload the concrete blocks and smaller items would be helpful.

This is a great opportunity to get some really valueable material so Please post up who can help and bring trucks, trailers and manpower this Sunday.

Great response guys!!!

I've recieved some calls and will be returning messages today.

I'll have my excavator at the SRD yard to unload things. We'll be using a larger excavator with a thumb to load, except for the things that can be hand loaded.

I'll be at the TIM's for 7:30 if someone wants to buy breakfast. LOL

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give an update on this little inner city project. We had 9 people out. I’d like to express a big thanks to Serge Leblanc, Keith Butler, Jason Huntley, Jason Veinot, Jason Cam, Alec Boyce, Robin McQuerrie and Darrion Hunt for showing up early on Sunday. Together, we were able to get over 1000 concrete blocks moved along with 8 large concrete culverts and 3 sets of I-beams for the next bridge installs. Most of this will be focused into the McLean Creek OHV zone.

We’ll be moving more steel on Wednesday evening. We’ll be meeting at the Road King truck stop for about 4:30pm Oct 22. We’ll do one big load that night.
We have one more load of block to move, and a bunch more steel and culverts.

I if anyone has some time to do a load on Wednesday from the Foothills industrial to the SRD yard here in Calgary and has either a trailer, dump trailer or pickup truck.

Any help would be great! We even had a PT Cruiser with a small trailer to help. That’s dedication to fixing up the trails!!!

Please call me if you can make it or if you have any questions.

Thanks

Dave Dunlop

glad to see some people came out. Please remeber that these litle projects are what helps to keep the trails open. wednight is a good night to show up if you cant make the weekends.

ill be out this wed as my slightly sprained ankle turned out to be a major infection in my leg( hence the reason i  was limping) and im on iv for the rest of the week every 8 hours. i will be out for more projects even if its in the pt with the trailer in tow, just not this time

and we realy do need more jeep poeple to show up. it was a real mixed crowd there with truck guys, quads guys, jeep guys, toy guys and a opinioanted suzuki guy ;D. Heck even a 4 year old girl was hauling bricks with us. Good job all

What was the website that you was mentioned to check out?
