Title: Air Bag Sensor (New seats)
Post by: Impact on October 16, 2008, 09:41:15 PM
Hi,

I am looking at ordering some new bucket seats for my 05 TJ. I noticed that there is a wire going to the seat and am guessing that its an air bag sensor for weight... What can I do to deal with this?
Remove it?
Try and install it in the new seats?
Is it even a senseor? lol

Probably is the sensor.

Not sure on a TJ, but on the JK's if you pull that wire without having the battery disconnected the whole time it'll throw an error code, light up the dash, and only the dealer can clear it with a safety-pinned code on the starscan.  My guess is if it's possible move them to the new seats, if it's not possible have the dealer disable the sensor on the Jeep's computer.

I'm assuming you don't have heated seats...

Only the one wire? Both seats or only passenger one? If you have the colour of the wire, I can see if it is on the '04 wiring diagrams in the FSM.

Heated seats... lol, what is it a BMW! ;)

As per the wire color... i remember it being a rubber tube... My Jeep is being sent to me in Ontario so as soon as it gets here from BC I'll have to take a look.
