Title: Timing chain tensioner
Post by: stoggy97tj on October 25, 2008, 11:31:19 AM
My 97 tj with a 2.5L is making a loud ticking from the front of the engine.  I was looking at my hanes manual and was noticing that there is a tensioner for the timing chain.  Has anyone ever adjusted theirs? im just wondering if there is any special measurement involved for adjusting slack.

Thank you

The tensioner is not adjustable. its just a peice of plastic the chain rides along. A double roller eliminates the need for the tensioner.
