i think theres a flu going around that weekend it would only be in the companys best intrest to let you stay "home"

Don't I wish. Given that I'm off from the afternoon of the 24th through 'til the 1st, I might have a hard time selling them on the "flu".

I have to work Saturday because I get the following week off. One week on, one week off. It's not a bad schedule, actually.

18 psi is airing down?
you would do better at 12psi.
don't worry, you will be fine at 12. Don't believe urban legends.

Try it and report back :D

i would be worried about popping the bead but if you insist ill give it a shot . i do have a spare on the rear so it pops off then ill air up a bit so the rest dont pop

you going to come

isn't this an OPEN trail run? front tow hooks would be a good idea but not 100% needed

i beleive so .

theres a few toys that have come out completely stock . the only problem is when they get stuck its hard to get them out

but it is a open trails run so anything is welcome

In my experiences, the last thing i will ever go wheelin with is someone missing front or back or both towpoints. Also, no bald tires.
i have had the pain to send ill equipped rigs home.
This lesson needs to be used especially in WINTER.

Open trail run or not, tow hooks front and rear and decent tires are a bare minimum. CB's i let slide.
TK :)

tom is being genorus at 12 psi. i start at 10, and have gone down to 8 psi. more then any other type of wheelin, you will find that in the snow, low pressures rock.

i usually run 17 psi  ???.. dont i feel like a wuss.. guess imma see how much better it is with lower psi.
Title: Re: new year wheeling any body
Post by: Rubi03 jef on December 21, 2008, 10:38:08 PM
i agree that anyone planning on bring a truck into the bush should have the minimum of hooks front and rear and 31+ tires .. and no bald AT

because i have had to winch guys out of little puddles for no reason except that there truck was not meant for anything but road

on another note
i dont have bead locks .. running at 12 PSI  will still be safe
Title: Re: new year wheeling any body
Post by: Spinalguy on December 22, 2008, 11:00:03 AM
i have only once ever debeaded...err...twice. But i was at 7psi.
At 12, you really will be ok.
Have fun guys! :)

This true, except for those running Trux's.  You need to run them at 16psi if you don't want to lose a bead.   ;)

Back on the 1st? I thought that Apache wasn't kicking off their completion and abandonment program until at least the 5th. Unless you're headed somewhere other than downtown Zama...

I have been reading the thread and wish I could make it out but family plans that day. Please note

This is not an official club run and is not being set up or run by the club. Please enjoy yourselves and be careful wish I could come but family stuff first that day. If it was a club run front and rear tow points would be a mandatory requirement.  For thouse that are new to the site you should note that even the open runs organized by the club require you to have good tires, a CB, tow strap with loop ends and tow points front and rear.  Good things for anyone on the trail to have. In the past on open runs vehicles without the tow point have been turned away.
Have a good and safe run.

Post by: w squared on December 28, 2008, 04:53:51 PM
Requiring tow points is a sound policy to have. Without, you're getting into looking for anchor points on the frame or axle...after someone's stuck. Not a great situation to be in.

First welcome to the forum.

Questions are good.

Location:
1 Limited trails in the Ghost FLUZ most have been cosed to us.
http://www.srd.gov.ab.ca/fieldoffices/southernrockies/ghostwaiparous/pdf/Ghost_map_large_2008.pdf

2 McClean Creek, not open this time of year.
http://www.srd.gov.ab.ca/fieldoffices/southernrockies/pdf/McLeanCreek_Trails_kiosk21x39_Revised080710Watermark.pdf

Thouse are the two closest areas.

Post about any other wheeling locations will get deleted from the open forum. That was a decision made by the members. One of the advantages of membership is you learn about what the members know. To become a member it takes: a few runs out with one or more of the club executive, a meeting, $50 and a probationare period. It is always recommended to go wheeling with a a few experienced pepole your first few times out. I have learned some invaluable lessons and had my but saved a few times by the members.  Work on getting the minmum requirements. The new event coordinators are likely working on a 2009 schedule. It should be posted soon.

I look forwad to wheeling with you.

Why is your jeep miss the rear tow point. Does it have a receiver for a hitch? If it is a strong class three hitch I have seen others use a proper receiver and a shackle as a rear tow point.
Work on getting a CB as well it is for safety and adds to the enjoyment of the run.

Blair

That's to bad. Definitely best to have one. I was leading on the run Saturday and had to be pulled back off snow banks at least three times while trying to break trail.  Thanks again for the pulls guys.

I added some links to maps on my post above.

Sorry man I miss interpreted you replay as well.
Be very careful in the snow it acts very differently. Also use caution due to the snow hides lots of things. I found a rock on Saturday and bent my tie rod again.  ::) Never saw it and someone just went over it.

I am working on it. The move and the wedding have completely drained the resources. :(  And my better half is not working full time yet. December is a bad time of the year to be looking for work.
If anyone wants to donate to the Waytec jeep fund I will be accepting at the next meeting.  ;D

What does the better half do? I have access to some options. I just don't want to insult anyone if she's a dentist or something. PM me if necessary.
