Does anyone have any experience in the Jeep Cherokee with the 4.7?my cousin is thinking about buying a 05 with 100,000kms on it,he does alot of driving, his 01 blazer has about 350,000 kms trouble free, can he expect the 4.7v8 to be as reliable? He is also considering other ute's among them is a durango with the 5.7l Hemi, which i hear is a absolute timebomb of a engine,Any thoughts?

I've got a 99 Grand with the 4.7 and roughly 200,000 km, still runs strong. I have no complaints with it.

We have a 99 Grand Limited (AWD) with the 4.7L. Had it for 3 years, absolutely love it.
The Durango, I have been told, is a gas pig. But, I have never had a Durango, just reciting what has been told to me through friends, and the pop-in-law.

Thanks guys,I recall hearing the 4.7's had a weak bottom end, can't remember if it was a reliable sorce though.I have seen WAY more hemis blown up than 4.7's,so they must be ok.He has narrowed his choices down to the jeep and a Envoy with the 5.3 V8.both have around the same kms, myself having owned a chev with the 5.3 i know they are reliable.

i like mine. its at 170k too. if he had the option though i'd go with the 5.7 though. mostly cause you can turn off half the engine or what not and that'd be decent for gas mileage. (and i like power haha)

if he has any hopes of adding any modifications to his vehicle thewn go with the jeep. the envoys cannot be lifted, have no aftermarket following, and are just ugly... ok my personal viewpoint extends to about 99% GM vehicles.
