So I just picked up a '94 XJ and when I put the signal light on to turn right, when I go straight again the signal light turns off as normal. But when I turn left, the signal light stays on and the lever never returns to the off position. I know everything about Honda's and nothing about jeeps (my first jeep). Is this a common problem and an easy fix?

mine (97 XJ) is starting to do that as well. not sure about common problem (anyone?), but the XJ is 15 years old...

I understand it's 15, McClare has a 17 year old MJ and it doesn't have that issue. It's gotta be a switch I can replace or grease or something?

Turn signals are canceled by a plastic cam type thing in the steering column. Sounds like your's is broken (not that uncommon). You'll have to pull the steering wheel and replace it (or learn to cancel the signal manually).

I have a friend with a '95 Xj and it has the same sort of problems with the signal lever, only on his when he goes to signal the headlights turn off and the signal light stays on. :-X
