Title: Who can fix my arse end?
Post by: barmanjay on January 06, 2009, 08:18:36 PM
So,.. I have the odd clunk when I take off

and a nasty vibration on decel.

I'll be taking my DS off and replacing it,.. but I was hoping for a list of places to go to that can build a decent one for a decent price - please post experiences.

also is there someone on here willing to replace/fix my rear diff bearings and seals?

I can buy all neccessary parts and pay with monopoly money, beer, pizza, hard liquor, cold hard cash, european coin, gold, silver, daimonds, pirates plunder, pamela andersons underwear,... well maybe not the underwear, plunder, daimonds, gold, silver, coin and monopoly money.

In the next couple weeks I'll be going to Van (flying) so,.. if it lasts that long, I can leave my jeep wherever for a week to get done.

Please let me know who can do this for me please!

Lemon Aid Jay at Chanda Automotive

Biiig Thumbs up to Jay

After I dropped my DS off, I popped by, he took a look right away and offered to pop open the rear diff to check it.

He checked the bearings and replaced the DS seals on the rear diff and t-case.

it all looked good and nothing out of the ordinary so I told him to service both the front and rear and t-case :D

He even tightened up the u-bolts on my springs,.. he noticed they had loosened up since i installed the lift.

Gave me a discount too - very reasonable price for immediate service.

Yay for Jay

+1 to DSI

my vibrating arse is fixed :D

DSI over the phone quoted something around the $350 mark for a custom DS,.. so I thought,.. ok,.. that's the cost for custom - I'll accept.

I brought in the temp DS which was for length and brought in the old one,.. they used parts off them,.. re-tubed to spec, new U-joints, balanced, painted and put a nice shiny sticker on it, all in a 24hr turn around time for,....

$260 + change

Back to Jay's shop, he offered to crawl under and install,.. when I was about to do it,.. and i wanted him to come for a ride just incase the vibrating was there and still needed diagnosis.

+1 for Jay giving up some free time for that! I reccommend to go see him for repair needs,.. very reasonable and caring.

I was very happy!

Good to hear in a city rampant with overpaid underskilled labour that there is a few good men left to do an honest job. Shout outs and props to that!
