Title: Transmission, Tranfer case and Differential fluids
Post by: TheCaptain on January 08, 2009, 01:48:47 PM
If I were to walk into Canadian Tire tonight, what would be the best stuff to pick up for changing all three?
I am on a mission to get it all done tonight after a stop on the way home after work.  8)

*Also as a side note, what colour RTV gasket sealant doyou guys use for the diffs?

I have used the Permatex Ultra Black or the Blue gasket maker, both work good.  Be aware that some "full synthetic" gear oils will EAT silicon gasket making compounds.

231 Tcase is ATF+3
nv3550 is Snychromax or the mopar fluid (good luck finding it at Can Tire Tho)
Diffs are 80W-90

ATF 4 for the t-case is at canadian tire, I think walmart has a better selection of gear oil though, I'm going to try the Castrol Hypoy C it says you don't need to add extra friction modifier.  If anyone has tried this and found you do need it please chime in.

I think there are some other places to get the special lube for the trans. but Canadian Tire isn't one of them.  Royal Purple (Mopac).  I found it easier to go to the dealership to get it.
