Does anyone know of a "lifted jeep friendly" canadian tire in calgary or surrounding area for an out of country inspection and out of province? The front suspension is a longarm, so not easily put back to stock.

I just imported a Ford Hydrovac truck from the u.s,what i was told was Canadian Tire does not do the out of country inspections anymore,we had to go to Stampede Toyota.

this may be tricky man. we had a guy that bought a mega cab diesel from the states. it was lifted and bigger tires and such. they wouldnt let him bring it into canada. he had most of the lift removed, put the parts in the box of the truck. somehow found some stock parts. crossed the border. had it inspected. and then we put all the parts back on it. can you say retarded? waste of time and money i figured. but he got his diesel truck cheap from the states. hope hes happy.

I contacted the Registrar of Imported Vehicles, www.riv.ca, when I was looking at a Jeep w/ a LA kit, they said that ANY vehicle with modifications to stock tire size or to ride height would not be allowed to cross the border. If you already have the vehicle across, I'd like to hear how you got it across. I'd love to get a lifted vehicle from the US because they are so so cheap now.
If you don't have it across the border, I have heard that the Coutts border crossing is extremely sticky because they are the closest border crossing to the US Border Patrol training center. I've heard from guys in BC that the crossing near Aldergrove is somewhat leinient.
I don't have an answer on where to get it inspected because I've called around and only certain shops are allowed to complete the inspections, used to be CT. I spoke with the manager at the Shaunessy CT and he said they won't pass anything that is not stock ride height. In Southern Alberta, Ranchlands Ford is the certified inspection facility, try them out.

i got my truck from USA. i took it to Dean Folk of Folk Automotive, he is freindly but he also is responsible enough to not allow dangerous parts to pass.
So, he will look after you but he will also make your vehicle safe.
Than i took it to Canadian Tire where they do the final inspection to check if your Daytime running lights are installed.
As for lifted vehicles across the border?
Sometimes you get lucky and other times you are in a world of hurt if they deny you entrance due to modifications.
My truck had big tires but no lift and that is allowed (i phoned).

im triing to find info for registering the 58 willies i have. Where do i get info on older vehicles? I had a broker bring it across ( it was part of getting it shipped to alberta) i will have to pay a reactivation fee ( 60 or so) and a regi fee 200 or so. but where do i get such a relic inspected. it doesnt have DRL, power brakes or seatbelts. im almost afraid to take it to canadian tire or any place that doesnt understand older vehicles

There was a guy, can't remember his name from the edmonton jeep sight who got a willy's across from the states lifted up and that stuff even got it platted when he got it up here. Maybe he can help you out.
