When I shift from 1st gear to second gear it often grinds, unless I am especially careful with the shift. Has anyone else had trouble? Or is the synchro gear not working properly?
The Jeep is a 2005 Rubicon, and I went to the dealership and they said things were fine, but I doubt they drove it very much.
Any thoughts?

when does this happen? ive see nthis to be rather common when the ax-15 is cold. the 1-2 shift is kinda slow and can grind a little. once its warm its much better. ive seen it on the ax-5 too. if its all the time then there may be a problem. any other gears seem odd? be very sure that the clutch is all the way in as well.

It happens only when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I have not had the Jeep long enough to notice a difference between when it is cold and after 30 minutes of driving. So far it appear to be mostly related to how high fast I shift and how fast I am going (and how high the RPMs are) when I shift.
If I am careful, it will only grind occasionally, but it still does not feel like a smooth shift. I don't know if this is a characteristic of the transmission, or a problem. On some other websites people mentioned using Royal Purple (a synthetic transmission fluid) which seemed to help the problem.
