Ok...to make a long story short, I ordered a bumper from a US company known for quiality work four months ago. Paid in full, including shipping. I am beyond frustrated with the fac that not only are they two months past their latest quoted delivery date, they simply can't be bothered to let me know when they're going to miss a delivery time that they told me they could meet. They also aren't giving me any confidence as to when I might see my product. Other people who ordered in August still don't have their bumpers.
That leaves me two options:
#1. Buy a mid-width from a different US company and hope that I won't get molested on the shipping fees. Probably LOD - I like what I've seen of the "signature" mid-width.
#2. Find someone local to fab what I want from 3/16" steel, then look at finish options (rattlecan, powdercoat, or Line-X?).
And two questions:
#1. Who does that type of work in Cowtown?
#2. What should I expect to pay for a stout midwidth with a winch hoop, 2 STOUT recovery points, 4 light tabs, cutouts for fog lights, skid plate to protect my E-disco, and a mounting point/fairlead bracket for a 9.5ti.
If you happen to be someone that fits the #1 bill, and want to discuss #2...PM me.

Wow...I got that halfway posted (not sure what Firefox did to me there...), and there's already a reply. Obviously a business that is interested in my business. :)

In all honesty, the more business we all do local, the more these guys will be able to provide things like this. :)

I like the idea of my disposable income dollars (coming indirectly from "big oil") going to small businesses. I like that idea even more when those small businesses are local.

sounds like you have two good options there. I've had Jay work on my vehicles and i was happy with his honesty and work done. and Craig (krossloch) has built sliders on me old ZJ which were bad a$$, and as some know, i won't hesitate to recommend his work. And hopefully he'll be building me a bumper in the near future for my YJ when i get some money and ideas together
