Title: friction additive to stop grinding?

my tranny grinds a little going into 5th. i am running redline synthetic. should i add a friction additive? if so which one? 95 yj

if its ax-5, then you may have an issue with fifth gear. if its ax-15, you may have an issue with the syncro for fifth gear. from the sounds of it your trans is starting to tell you it needs some loving... and i mean internal loving. any other issues you have noticed?

You can put in the redline synthetic gl4 fliud.  Not as slippery as gl5.  I am not sure if it wil accelerate wear on any other parts as it is not as slippery as gl5, but it may work......

no other conserns. just a little quick grind going in to fifth.
its on the 2.5L so i assume its a ax 5 correct?

how difficult is a tranny rebuild? not somting to be under taken be a casual wrencher i take it?
