Title: Winter BIKE mods
Post by: Spinalguy on March 08, 2009, 11:59:24 AM
i have been storing parts and pieces for a few months now. Some pieces i took to get powdercoated.
(Top Gun Coatings in Calgary...very good work) Anyways, i got the bike loaded and headed down to
Big R's spread to get er done. i had researched ahead of time for the needed info to accomplish what i wanted done.

Stock airbox removal. This thing was a huge piece of plastic crap. It had to go. i replaced it with a K&N box.
All lighting removed and replaced with led's and a special headlight
License plate relocated off fender to axle.
Highway pegs installed.
Rewiring the rats nest of connectors that are hidden in the original headlight.

Cutting out the airbox. Only way unless you drop the engine

The only thing i will now do is powdercoat the stem holding the headlight. BTW, fug's wife Karen was super in helping out with the powdercoating. i highly recommend that shop.

I am not liking the head light. I think powder coating the head light will look much better. I do like the black and bushed aluminum. You may wont to power coat the rings around the gages as well.

I hate chrome... but I love skulls. But, I gotta say Tom, I am not diggin' the headlight. The new key is sweeeeeeeeeeet.

I saw this bike up at Peter's drive-in during the summer. It was awesome then... and it continues to evolve more so.

I think the new headlight would look better on the grill of the motorhome.
Bikes lookin' good though Tom!
No seat for the wife?
She needs one of these...

Tom, I love the headlight....but I agree....powedercoating it would look cool.  It depends if you want it more subtle, or standing out like currently.

i think the original headlight powdercoated is the answer. The Skull is very kewl but it just does not fit unless i do something along the lines of a theme bike like Convict posted up near the top of this thread. As i am not doing the theme, i think the skull just won't work even if i snuggled it back a bit with a shorter stem to hold it.
i will see once the original one is powdercoated.
