Instead of cleaning up the other thread I figured I would let it evolve as is and start this one.
We will be meeting at Smittys in Cochran at 0830 for Breakfast and leaving at 0930 sharp heading to the staging aria.
Be fueled and read to leave at 0930.
The trail rout will be Medow Creek trail to Margeret Lake and back out around Camp Chamisall. Pending on time and who is with us, we may head up to the falls.
Who is coming?
!!!!All other posts deemed not related will be removed !!!!

Here is the law. If you don’t like it, stop complaining and lead your own run.
Open run to members, non members and potential members Of the Calgary JEEP Association.
If you have a Jeep show please come. If you do not have a Jeep and wish to join us PM me first. I have my reasons and don’t have to discus them here. Phill is in if he wishes to join us.
You must have:
CB (no FRS)
Front and rear tow points, with your own tow strap.
Good MT or AT tiers. Bald and street tiers are going home.
Your rig must be in good mechanical form.
Your own food, water and warm clothing. I am not your mother.
I was out their saturday and the snow is deep in places and pulls you in. There is also lots of ice in places. The hills are step but we all made it.
-
im in ..
-
if u were just there how was the gravel road going up the hills? was it icy or slippery?
-
They where slippery. I need to take 2 runs at the one hill braking trail and made it on the 3erd go. Everyone else mad it on the first try.
In parts where you go along the side of the hills with a huge drop on the other side to the river their was ice across the road in places. If you hit that to fast over the edge you would go.
Dava if you have your new rig together you should come out with us.
-
I'm in
-
Is this something a newbie can join in on?

If you are a little tentative their will be lots of us out to coach. Just ask. If all else fails we will drag you out of the bush and help get you home. ;D
We don’t leave anyone behind. Johnny we did come back for you, Kind of. :)

I am good to go then! I was looking for the part where someone would tell me they could help me in a sticky situation. lol I don't like being left in the woods alone! :D
-
everyone is very friendly and are more then happy to pass on words of wisdom.
oh and if any one is looking i may have an open winch operator seat
ill know more by tomorrow evening
-
well u know Aaron, when you dont' take the bypass and bomb up the snow covered hill (too bad you guys didn't see that run, it was pretty BADA$$) i would have beat u guys around the mountain had there not been a big tree in the middle of the trail. and the big tree wouldn't have been an issue if i had an axe..... or a winch remote........ or some tools............ air lockers that work.............. but its ok, we found a battle plan. next one might include an axe tho
-
I'll show up, should be fun. I havent wheeld in the snow before so good driving tips are much appreciated.
-
make sure you have all the requirements. Waytec is a dink.... he'll send you packin'.

Have you tuned it with a SWR meter?
-
Have you tuned it with a SWR meter?
nope .. how do i do that .
-
First you gotta dig up a SWR meter (Standing Wave Ratio meter)... There are a few people in the club that have them. Then using that you can adjust the antenna (most antenna's have some way of adjusting... mine has a tip that I can turn to lengthen or shorten).
There's lots on the internet that describes how to tune an antenna such as this page here (http://www.roadtripamerica.com/Equipment/How-to-Tune-a-C-B-Radio-Antenna.htm)
I've only done it once or twice myself so I'm by no means an expert but its not really that difficult if you do a bit of reading first.
-
right on . thanks boys ill have it tuned for saturday
-
ive never tuned any of my last 3 CB setups. never had any issues
I stopped buying adjustable antennas because ive never need to.
-

Family Radio Service... those cheap little radios they sell all at Can Tire, Wal Mart etc. They are used by families at amusement parks, people on jobsites etc.

I'll try and get stuck next time out :) I had a great time, I expected it to be a little more sloppy though. Good thing is the jeep is still cleanish, most of the dirt came from the gravel road home :-[

That's the plan, she's already said she'd like to come out. We'll just have to unload the kids at the neighbors and come out :)

Adjust the knob til the needle is on the right on the meter, over the set point (infinity). Start adjusting the length of the antenna, ground plane or antenna position to bring the needle back towards the left, as close to 1 as possible. Anything an SWR of ~2 is bad for the transmitter portion of the radio and can burn out the amplifier.
If you need any more help, PM me.
