ok i'm selling the super swampers and i need a new set of tires i was just wondering what every one is running??
i'm looking for a radial tire not bias, i'm thinking baja claws or alturos whats your 0.02 cents??
-
I've ran Wild Country XTR's, BF AT's, Dean SXT's,Yokohama Geolandar AT2s, Michelin LTX's, ProComp X-terrains, Toyo OCMTs, General Grabber AT2s, and am currently running Mickey Thompson MTZ's. Of all of these I would either put on a set of MTZs if the vehicle is a take anywhere vehicle, or a set of the Dean SXT's if it gets half hi-way k's. If its hi-way to dirt ratio leans a little more towards hi-way maybe a set of General Grabber AT2's, they have the same tread pattern as the bf at's but they're cheaper and the tread compound seems to not chunk out as bad as the BF's when driven like a rental on gravel roads. The toyo OCMT's are good too but they'll cost you more than the others. The Geolandar was a great all terrain tire that lasted forever but they were discontinued. That's my $0.02

MTZ all the way for me. Great on road and excellent off-road. Lot's of guys up here are running them with great success.
The only other tire I want to try would be the IROK Radials, I've wheeled with guys running them and they are almost unstoppable. Gotta Getta Set :-X

i run boggers and they SUCK on the road .. in the bush they chew .. as you seen theres not much that stops them ..
-
what in the hell are alturos?

Why bother buying tires you should upgrade your axles and tranny or learn to lay off the skinny pedal so u dont break and waste peoples times like on the last run you were on... and crawling is for babys? ur on 31's dude that aint a mud truck also Nice high jack of a username off Youtube of a real grand cherokee that can rep "crawlin is for baby's" anyday ;D but on the tire topic baja claws SUCK wont get traction and they dont clean at all in the mud unless ya got high HP

Your just jealous he 1s 16 and has a drivers licence :P
If you want to be rude man go back to 4wheeler this is not the site for it.

Back on topic I am running Interco Super Swamper Radials 33" SSR. I have found them to be a very good tire in most conditions except ice. Then they suck.
-
36" iroks. bias ply. as Pete said, gosh darn near unstoppable on the trail. wicked tire for climbing, crawling and even mud. (even though i'm not a fan of mud)
also run Mickey Thompson ATZs on my DD grand cherokee. great street tire. good in teh snow/winter stuff and last long. haven't had em on a trail, i'd assume they'll be no worse than any other AT.........

i think i spelt it wroung but it is the tire that 4bangermadness is running and scott/kirre, comanche runner i'm sure there more but that is how i wheel with lots

No liscence has never stopped me from wheelin i was just stating some points

Other then winter wheeling I dont find irocs excell in any one wheeling application. Aside from cost less, and wobble a lot on street rigs, they dont do anything a toyo doesnt.
I wheel with guys on irocs all the time. OK tire, but definately not "exceptional".
My 2 cents.
-
i also find that iroc treads are very shallow and wear fast. Some sizes are exceptions to this but overall, irocs do nothing for me.
Toyo Open Country MT for the win.
-
I run bias ply TSL's they are good in everything except for ice. I want to get a set of 31" Toyos though they sure look sweet and ride nice on the road for a MT

Toyo doesn't make a 31x10.5R15 in the open country MT. Cooper Discoverer STT's come in a 31 and they have the same tread pattern as the toyo, just a different sidewall tread.

Ryan,
When you said alturo's...did you mean adventuro's? Like the mud terrains? I think Nich and a few guys run those tires. I've got a set on my XJ, and they are fine for wheeling but I would suggest siping the center blocks(lugs) as they don't work so well on icy streets. What do you want to do with your rig? Are you looking for a dedicated trail machine or is this your daily driver?
You want a radial tire correct?

yes thats what i mean't, and i what a capble trail rig but i need to daily drive it, but not that often but it will need to go down the highway from canmore to the trails, so yes i need a radial i'm running tsl super swampers but they wear why to quick on the highway.

Ryan,
Don't make the mistake of running an aggressive mud tire on the street. I ran 38" Boggers on my CJ and they wore out quickly, and sounded like Pratt & Whitneys at full boost on the highway. I was poor at the time and could afford to run only one set of tires. You could always buy a set of smaller used all terrains for the street, and save your muds for the trail. Don't buy a set of expensive mud tires because they look cool. An alternative would be to find a tire that does well both on and off the road.
Good Luck!
