What Jeeps did the Peougeot transmission come in? Was it only in 4.0L Jeeps or 2.5L Jeeps?? I'm replacing the AX5 in my MJ, but I' not sure if the donor transmission I might buy is an AX5 or Peougeot, I obviously could tell when I see it, but I haven't seen it yet. Hope this makes sense.

I believe the AX was available from 90' onwards......but don't take my word for it!!! 'cause I'm not 100% sure....
-
The AX-5 was always behind the the 2.5L from the late 80s on. The Peugeot was behind the 4.2L and 4.0L until I believe '89 in XJs and MJs and 90s for YJs

They changed halfway thru '89. There are some '89 XJs with AX15s. I believe the AX5 was only used on the 4cyl.

Perfect. Thats what I wanted to hear.
Thanks

If an '89 XJ (with 4.0L) has the BA10/5 puegot tranny, what's involved in swapping in the AX-15?
Different spline countS? Bolt patterns different?

probably a new bellhousing and possibly a new clutch system if you go with an external slave. Also you will new a new t-case input gear as the 4 bangers and 4.0L w/puegot trannies have 21 splines and the AX-15 has 23.
