Title: welding rear axle tubes....
Post by: raf2379 on April 04, 2009, 10:18:46 AM
has anyone ever spun the tubes on a rear axle D44? i'v heard guys spining the tubes on a front D30 so I went ahead and welded the tubes on my front axle. i'm building up both D44 and D30 axles before I upgrade to a long arm kit, so I want to make sure i dont miss anything.

an axle truss may be what you're looking for. will help in strengthening both axle housings. apparently though you want to be carefull with the amount of heat you put into the tubes. you dont want to let it cool off too quick or put too much heat in as the tubes could distort from the heat. take your time with the welds and im sure it will work out fine.
