so when i first start my jeep i have a lumpy acceleration, under load and not under load.
i figure one of my sensors are gone.
question is....which sensors controll the throttle duringwarm up? and which control it after?
thanks

could be many things, when is the last tune up you did? what do the plugs look like? how are the plug wires? are there any engine codes?
-
no engine light, tune up has been done recently and the plugs were good.
-
ok describe "lumpy acceleration" is the engine surging? have you done a fuel filter? if you have a multimeter test your plug wires. give us a full description of your problem that might help us point you in the right direction. is it hard to start when cold? what kind of jeep? engine size? have you cleaned the intake?
-
95 yj 2.5 L
i did the fuel filter. new wires as of the summer.
its hard to explain. when i start it up after it has been cold for a while and i rev the engine the revs go up but kinda slow and in sharp fast increments. after the engine was warmed up there is no problem. Even after i turn the warm engine off and then on right away there is no problem..
i have run sea foam through the intake manifold though not through the intake tube.
i know i have a damaged wire that connects to my injectors but i dont think that is it. could i be chasing a vacume leak? all hoses look good.
-
yup could be a vacuum leak, could be computer too, i know xj's have a problem with the computer in cold weather where the comp does not turn on the fuel pump, had this problem with mine, just went to pick n pull and swaped out the comp. could be a problem with the distrbuter or perhaps coil, i would neet to take a look at it.
it definately is an odd problem, what part of the city you in?
-
is it multiport injection or throttle body injection?
-
multi port injection.
i know i have a vacume leak, but this was happening befor my vacume leak as well....
-
alot of the actuators and sensors are usually run off vacuum, try fixing that first than go from there. you might have had a small vacuum leak that you did not know about causing this problem. at the very least its a good place to start.
-
if you no you have a damaged wire to the injectors thats first thing i'd be looking at

ok thanks for the help guys. im in abbydale.
anyone know where the best place to buy a valve cover is? i tried to replace a leak there and did the old fix one, end up with another. it may be warped.
also, what else should i do when i have the valve cover off. is there a way to do a adjustment to help limit valve train noise?
-
pick and pull would be great for a valve cover or you could just use more silocone! ;D
