I know gear ratio below 3.55 in the D35 requires a new case when you go above 3.55.... so what about the dana 30? right now i want to go to at least a 4.88 from my crappy current 3.05 (thanks again Chrysler), unless i decide to swap axles.

i believe the carrier has to be changed out with gears over 3.73 in the D30. I know I had to get a new carrier for my 4.56 gears, I just can't remember where the stock carrier limit is.
Can anybody else confirm?

I'm pretty sure the split in the D30 is between 3.55 and 3.73.
-
I thought it was 3.73 to 4.10, except in the case of the Rubi's.
-
Regardless.. if Hansel is going to at least 4.88s, he needs a new one.
-
D30 carrier break is 3.56 and numerically lower 3.73 and numerically higher
You need a new carrier
I have a stock tj d30 with 3.73 gears and carrier with alloy outer seals (no knuckles ,brakes ,or shafts) 4 sale make me an offer

I believe 4.88 is the lowest gear you can go on a D30. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.....

i think their is a company out there that make a 5.13 for the d30 but it might be exclusive to the reverse spiral d30
