I have a 95 YJ 2.5 and want to put a 40. and AW4 from a 93 Grand Cherokee in it. Anyone done this swap? I have the complete donor vehicle and also have a 95 YJ 4.0 ECM. Not sure which would be best as I want the transmission to shift correctly.
Any that have done this I would appreciate your ideas.
Thanks

the aw4 has its own computer i believe. and the 4.0L may need a manual trans ECM version. other then that, trans mounts will differ, and driveshafts may be slightly different in length. cut a hole in the floor for proper trans shifting and the transfer case shifter will have to match to the aw4. what transfer case are you using?

The AW4 has a TCM computer and the hard part is wiring it up so everything shifts correctly. The terminals on the ECM are the same as the YJ except for the cruse and brakes. I just thought as many people had done it there was a writeup. No luck so I will take the plunge and do it myself. The mechanical end is easy.
