So tonight I can home and find that sometime between 1PM and 9PM the city has put up NO PARKING signs all around my condo. I now have to park 2 blocks away accross from a school. Its retarded because we were given no warning that these signs were going up and the 50 or so cars parked along the road as the signs were going up now have tickets on them. So what has happened is the city crew put the signs up and then the parking rent a cops came by. Thanks a ton guys, glad my taxes are spent screwing me over. >:(

Fight it.

Yeah, you can actually get a legal petition through the city of Calgary and get all the condo owners and however else to sign on and have the signs removed

ur parking by the school? jeeze dude, u might as well park at my house............. what about parking stalls in the complex? can u buy one? or are they reserved?
-
Our parking lot is packed, no more spot. Basically the east and west sides of 24th from the school to the intersection and N and S sides of 162 from the intersection to the 711 are now blocked off.

WOW. fawken ridiculous. maybe u can park at 7/11

Photo radar, red light cameras, speed on green cameras, $3 dollars to park and ride, and now random no parking signs popping up, oh and I forgot $20 an hour to park downtown, Man sounds like its time to move out of the big city, they seem to find new ways to screw the little guy every day

this is common in many big cities too though. only difference is you can get around them quite easily. this city is so anti-transit you've no choice but to drive. i was talking with a buddy (when back in Van last week) about his morning commute from Coquitlam to somewhere in North Van or soemthing is 45 mins. wi laughed cause it can take 45 mins just to get out of Shawnessy somedays.
if i lived in a place with decent transit i wouldn't even have two vehicles. i'd keep the trail rig and just take transit everywhere. apparently other cities have decent systems

i'll don't think it's the wright thing to do but if something like this happened to me and i got a ticket i wound go out with the cordless saw and cut all the signs down and then park.

I talked to the alderman today, what they are going to do is relax the no parking enforcement for residents of the condos along 24th ST. We still cant park on 162nd at all. This is a pretty fair solution since both streets are major roads and there is a bylaw that states you cant park on a major road.
Ryan, doing that accomplishes nothing since the signs will go back up, our condo fees get jacked once the city bills the condo board for damages and if you get caught you get a massive fine and possible goto jail. The city could also make a case for towing and impounding the vehicle.

Doesn't this post belong over on the thread about vandalism?

i try to ride my bike to work and its still an hour ride at least. no bike lanes. no good paths. i always have to spend some time on the same road as typical calgary driver.
the transit out here does suck. i moved here from winnipeg. winnipeg has a pretty good transit system. i could get from my highschool deep in the suburbs to right downtown in about 30 minutes. even at rush hour time. its not a small city. they just have a good system going on. out here you have to have a car. support the oil companies i guess, lol!

the transit system sucks here so does the roads
can your condo get permits from the city you pay 50 bucks for little stickers and that will allow you to park anywhere in the area near your condo
im from Montreal and we have less space and 4 times the people and thats how they do it there . stickers for people that live in an area with little to no parking . this allows them to park over night with no ticketting
but dont get caught with out it cuz your car will be towed
might want to look into some kind of agreement city meets you half way on something
and seriously for a city with only 1,000,000 people you would think they would be able to make some parking lots
