Title: Handheld CBs?
Post by: NUXJR on April 29, 2009, 08:21:28 AM
Any opinions ;D.  Looks like I'm gunna need a CB of some sort if the kids & I will be joining any trail rides.  No room to 'mount' anything so prolly gunna have to go handheld.

Thanks!!

I used to use a handheld and it was decent for trail runs but not much range on them.  I one I had could be connected to an external antenna

once i hooked it up to a normal antenna set up it worked MUCH better. i left the cable and antenna attatched but could detach cb and cb plugin.

Thanks guys!!

Bin doin' some smurfing on the net & kinda like this one: http://www.midlandradio.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3108

Kinda looks like it would work much like the all-in-one Cobra unit but still be portable ;).

What do yous think?

I have a 75-822.  Works great.  I use it for talking to trucks when you get out to spot.  It also can be used to lend to someone that does not have a radio.  As long as you are close, it works OK.

I have a Midland 75-785 which is the version down from the one you are looking at.

Works well - I use it to stay in contact with my wife when she decides she has had enough and it is time to get out and walk ;D
