Title: Electric brake controller
Post by: McClare on April 29, 2009, 05:40:43 PM
Vehicle is 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport 4x4 4.0L Auto

I'm looking to wire in a brake controller. 4 wires need to go to the controller: Positive, Negative (ground), Blue wire that goes to the 7 pin connector at the rear, and a wire that comes off the 'cold side' of the brake switch. I can't find my haynes manual to look at a wiring diagram but does anyone know what wire this is off hand? I looked at the brake switch and it has like 8 wires going to it. I figured it would be 2 wires, one with power and one without. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

take a test light and depress the brake pedal-tap into the wire that lights up-this will be your signal power to close your switch
and send power through your brake contoller through the blue wire to the trailer plug-any questions  pm me I'll walk tou through it
