Hey guys,
I've made a storage box for the back of my TJ and I want to cover it with carpet.
I'm thinking the stuff that everyone puts on speaker boxes would be perfect. Does anyone know where I can buy that stuff in Calgary?
I'll have a thread soon with pics of my storage box too.
Thanks,

Hey, I built a custom sub box for my Trans Am, and I actually found the carpet at a carpet store. I'm from Ontario, and still fairly new to Calgary, so I don't really know of any carpet stores out here! Probably your best bet tho!

Thanks man,
I went to end of the roll carpet today and he said he can't get that stuff. The closest he had was indoor/outdoor almost rubber carpet - minimum width was 12ft.

Hmm, I think I may have gotten it from fabric land, can't quite remember, it was like 4 years ago. If there's any kind of sewing places around you, or just ones that you know of, I'd check them out as well!
Hope I helped,
Jeff

If worse comes to worse go to visions or future shop and talk to the install dep. You might goosed a little more but you won't have to take a 12 foot wide strip.

esi,
Yep I tried that too and got nowhere. They have pre-made boxes and things, but don't have the carpet.

Id hit the fabric places then. But if the box is made of wood, I'd use a sealer on it before putting the carpet on. Possibly drywall primer, so the carpet doesn't hold moisture against it and make it smell or mold

What kind of sealer? If your using MDF wood or whatever it's called, as soon as moisture hits it, you're screwed. I moved to AB and my desk swelled because I didn't tape the edges properly. I just carpeted mine and it had no issues at all, then again it was a Trans Am so it was a sealed unit! Again, just try fabric stores, probably be your best luck!

I know for a fact that a&b sound in the NE does (or at least did) do custom box installs. My buddy used to work there and i was able to buy some carpet there, so that may be an option...
If not you could try a mobile install place that does more custom jobs such as audio concepts mobile, or where my buddy works now...supposed to be near the road king, but the name escapes me.
Other than that i have heard of people picking it up from carpet places or home depot type places, but never had to myself.

didn't all the A&Bs close down?

You can buy black , blue or grey automotive carpet at canadiantire ...... Its 20 bucks for a roll....

I have also bought audio carpet at Homodepo before.
