Has anyone any experience with putting a sucker fan in front of the rad I don't have enough room to mount a fan in the conventional location so I have to come up with something else. I know I will be pulling hot are from the engine compartment through the rad. The other option is a pusher fan but trying to get turbulent air through the rad isn't that easy especially when the fan is infront of the grill and the rad is behind a shroud becomes a problem.

If I am reading this correctly, you are looking to add a sucker fan in the front of the rad, that would pull the air out of the engine comparment..... I don't think this would work and would be very surprised if the results were any better than not running a fan at all. the air being sucked thru the rad would be displaced by any air being forced into as you drive forward.
I would keep the flow going into the compartment and add some louvers to the top of the hood to aid the circulation.

A pusher up front, infront of the rad would make sense...but your mechanical fan should be capable of moving more air than an elec fan...
Are you running hot?

The mechanical fans will displace a lot less air than some of the larger efans on the market. I dont know if it would work for you but the ZJ guys take the shroud and mech fan out and swap in an efan from a Taurus.

You say you have no room for the conventional location and fan. Do you have enough room to run a Hayden low profile 2 fan combination. Dual 12" fans side by side and they only require about 1" of space between the rad and the engine. I've had good luck with mine till a seized one in Moab 2 weeks ago.

I only run a 14" electric puller fan on the outside of the rad and have never had any cooling issues, wired it to a coolant temp sensor set for 180 and it barely comes on

Yeh there is NO room, there is about a 1/2 inch between the pulley and the rad. I think I'll be going with a pusher fan with some louvers in the hood.

I have a pusher on the outside and a puller on the inside of my TJ. I usually only run the inside puller fan but i have a switch to turn on the outside pusher when things start to get hot. Need to move extra air around the 8274.
The inside puller is attached directly to the rad and the outside pusher is attached to the grill frame and uprights (nothing noticeable at the front)

well ive got a taurus fan and shroud that i'm going to mount on the grill and wire in on high and see how it works.
