Title: power steering box
Post by: nickcoleman9 on May 24, 2009, 07:23:00 PM: Hey guys so i was out on Saturday and i hit the box on my 95 yj is it worth rebuilding?
or should i go to pnp and just grab one? also if i go that route what fits? would a cherokee or something bolt in, or is there an easy upgrade?
i guess i should build a skid for it..... thanks NICK

Post by: S-FLY on May 25, 2009, 09:25:52 AM: I'd just grab one from PnP. I think I paid $29 for my pump at PnP, and I'm pretty sure they're the same as the YJ. Sprockett will know for sure, I just gave him an XJ pump to try on his YJ.

I also need a box but for a 77 CJ7. Has anyone shoe horned a box from another model into a CJ? The rebuilt box for that jeep is $700+ so if I can find a cheaper option that works I would be all over it.

I pulled one from PNP last week, they charged me $40, turns out the problem was not with my steering box. So I have a good steering box sitting in the garage.

I'd take a case of beer for it.

CJ boxes are dime a dozen. Get a wrecker to cross it, but just about any saginaw box from a bout 10 million bazillion ford and chev trucks over the last 30 years will bolt in.

Most you should pay for a remain is about 350 plus core. Give or take.

If its a 3 bolt saginaw, it should work nick. Just measure your bolt pattern and double check when you look at it.
