Hey everyone, another noob question. I just purchased a 94 cherokee sport 4dr. All my seat belts won't lock when you pull on them. Do you have to pull them at a certain angle / speed / deceleration / while braking? just wanted to know before I go to the junker. Normally I thought that when you pulled on them they should lock. Anyone else have seat belt problems or am I the only one? Thanks everyone.

try driving on a back road about 50 then hit the brakes and see if they lock up

Cool, I'll give that a try. Bought the jeep for my girlfriend and want to make sure the seat belts will work in a crash. Thought that someone here would know how they lock. My old 96 cavalier you had to literally lock the wheels for them to work but my 2000 civic you can just pull on them.

^^This isnt a serious post. Just jerk on the seat belt and it should engage.

Thanks Jeeper and Tinkerer. Went for a drive, locked the brakes and the seat belts lock. The seat belts use an inertia locking mechanism.
