Title: Does a Scout T19 bolt up to a jeepcj bell housing and to a jeep Dana 300 transfe

I am still tinkering with this idea but I am not sure if it will fit. I have a 1981 cj7 258ci and a T5 transmission with a dana 300 transfer case. has anyone here tried this swap? if so how much different are they?

I recently picked up an 81 cj5 that has the 304v8, t19 and d300.

The guy my fiance picked it up from said he recently put in the tranny and that it has the granny gear.  The numbers on it are 13-09-065-905 (i think thats right from my memory), i haven't been able to find out exactly what the gears are but from my initial research it appears to be from a scout.  I think the ford ones were 065-911 for the casting? can anyone comment on this?

If it is infact the scout one then, i assume you will be fine - i don't notice any extra adapters in place on mine.

From the research I have done, it is very difficult if not impossible to mate a scout tranny to a Jeep B/H. As for the t-case, scouts used Dana 20s and in 1980 they used a different version of the Dana 300 that shared the same mounting as a Dana 20. You would have to find out whether or not the adapters are available for the swaps mentioned. One disadvantage of the Scout tranny is the length of the input shaft. It would be easier to find a Ford or Jeep tranny to use.

I am putting a Ford T18A and a Scout Dana 300 in my YJ. The Ford T18 shares the same bolt pattern as a T150 found in some 70s CJs, which also have a short input. I had to drill and tap the rear of the tranny to accept the adapter for the Jeep T18 to Dana 20 t-case to bolt up the Scout Dana 300. My setup results in an extremely short drivetrain. IIRC I lost +/- 18" of length from the existing setup.

There is a lot of info out there. Sometimes you just have to dig deep.
