Title: Winch Plate Material
Post by: fony3 on June 03, 2009, 12:55:03 AM
My buddy and I were discussing the fabrication of our own winch plate. I have found a couple online that are 1/4 inch steel, is that pretty standard? Are the four holes for the tow hooks on stock bumpers the only mounting points necessary?

Thanks.

The 4 holes on the frame with grade 8 bolts is sufficient

I know that Warn specifies grade 5...but I'm with Blackyj on this one. I use Grade 8. If you do a search, you'll find a thred no this site that contains some good links that explain the different grades of hardware, and debunk some of the myths floating around about things like Grade 8 bolts being too brittle.

I can't think of a situation where you'll regret going with better quality hardware.
