Title: Voltmeter Problems
Post by: gsxtacy on November 20, 2005, 12:40:14 AM
Hi
my voltmeter on my 77CJ5 runs off the scale when the engine is on, and almost too high when the ignition switch is in acc.  it still ticks when my turning lamps are on, and wobbles when my radio is turned on and off.  what the heck is going on.  do i have a bad meter   or is the batt bad? or am i going to hafta tear apart my harness?

thanx!

Check the charging system with an external handheld meter. If the system is charging normal according to that, then you likely have a bad gauge.

I believe Canadian Tire does free charging system tests.
