I really need help on this one. I'm sure someone out there has done this before.
I just bought and 89 YJ, and I do not fit in it. :'( I have owned a 95 Yj before, but with the tilt and reclining seats made do, but it wasn't great.
The 89 I just bought does not have recline on the seat, and I'm too big to drive it. I need the seat set back 4-6 inches.
OR
I'm hoping that a reclining seat out of a 95 would bolt right in ? Any Ideas ? Or what about TJ seats....that would be ideal !
Ideally, I would like the reclining seat of a 95 set back 4 inches, but beggars can't be choosers !
Any help would be great guys ! Or if you have a YJ seat that reclines, I would love to buy it.
Thanks !!!!

its a combo of height and um, i call it the 'gas tank for the love machine' as i have the same problem. (we are BIG boys)
i did a quick search for something aftermarket but didn't find anything. i think yo might need to find a different seat riser Tom.. what i was thinking was having one built to move the whole seat assembly back 2" and down 2". (any more and i might not be able to reach the pedals lol) i just dont' know how much work is involed to do such a thing. you could probalby also make the seat on a custom frame exactely how you want it, and keep the stock crap just incase you ever sell it.......
let me know what you find man, i'd be interested in it as well

Im 6'5 and fit in there fine! You should grab a reclining racing seat with a universal mount.

JOhnnyC, I was banking on the fact that you would have already solved this problem and have an easy fix for me LOL..
I do need a reclining seat, that is for sure. and relocating the seat back a few inches would make it perfect. I can't believe how hard it is to find YJ seats ?
I figured I would have a pair first day ?
Anyways, I will let you know what I come up with.
Looks like it will be reclining seat with custom brackets to set it back a few inches.

hahahahahaha touchee! my leather seats recline on mine, so i kind of just live with it. i had more issues with the sound bar than anything, kept hitting my head on it. but tom, if u find someone wanting to do such a relocation thing, let me/him know, maybe he could do a couple, i wouldn't mind my seat being an inch or so lower.

Any idea if my stock 95 grand cherokee laredo seats will bolt in ?
-
OK guys, thanks for the ideas..
But listening to all these other guys that say they fit fine, I had to take a second look. It seems that they seat was just jammed. :-[
I slide it back today at lunch, and it is a great fit ! ;D
It will be on the road tomorrow.
