ok i've found a 97 tj with a 2.5 i havn't takin it for a test drive or anything but lets say the motor is in fairly good shape, how long would it last and would a 4.0l bolt in.
-
from what ive read, the 2.5 is pretty bullet proof, strong motor. and about the swap i was told u pretty much need a donor vehicle
-
maybe look for a TJ with a 4.0L. save a lot of hassle down the road.
-
My 2.5L lasted 174,000kms...kerboom!
-
go get a wrecked truck and then swap engine, and drive line and axles into the tj and you will never run out of power. About the same amount of hassle as swapping a 4.0 into in.
-
my 4.0 tj is on the way i`ve found a better one with the 4.0 for the same money now i just need to get rid of my zj

The 4.0L is not a bolt in swap
-
Driving style is right behind whether or not you change the oil in determining how long an engine will last. Excessive application of the throttle will cause an engine to have a shorter life.

my tj deal is no good any more the guy jacked his price $3000 last minute.
