it will be the first oil change on the jeep and i want to know what kind will be the best choice
-
What does it have in it now? Going from dino to synthetis clears out all the build up but can cause seals to leak. I use dino since my engine has almost 300k on it and would just puke all the oil out of I went to synthetic. I make sure that i have a good quality filter though.

I went from regular to synthetic (for poops and giggles) at 390,000... no leaks on it, and it is about to get another oil change this week.
-
I usually use penzoil platinum, generally able to find it pretty cheap at either crappy tire or wally world.
-
I use dino oil with some lucas oil stabalizer. Play with the gear display at a retailer. Might be another option to consider
-
if you plan on wheeling your jeep and or using it hard then go synthetic. if you're mall crawling then save your money and stick with the regular oil.

Same here... the Lucas stuff stop lots of the leaks I had....

i use 10w-30 from mobil 1 with a lucus synthetic stabilizer.
my 4.0l has 255,000km on it and it loves it with no major problems.
